Ms. Brennan: 31 Years of Teaching

Ms. Brennan is a math teacher for 9th and 10th-grade students here at Jemicy. She has been teaching for 31 years and majored in English during her college years.

This is Ms. Brennan’s first year teaching at Jemicy, and she has fallen in love with the joyful environment that the school provides.

Ms. Brennan says, “At Jemicy, I felt like I could really connect with the students.”

The small class sizes definitely have advantages in allowing students to know and connect well with their instructors.

For the last six years, she has been teaching math; however, prior to that, she spent 24 years as a language arts teacher. She says she “fell into teaching” after spending time with Teach for America.

Not only is Ms. Brennan an educator, but she is also a coach for the women’s varsity basketball team. She played all four years of high school and participated in a women’s recreational league after college.

Ms. Brennan teaches geometry in a way that makes the class understandable and well-structured.

When asked if she enjoyed what she does, she says, “If you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.”
