Mr. Vin: Meet The New Science Teacher At Jemicy

Mr. Vin is a science teacher who joined Jemicy Upper School at the beginning of the school year, and I had the opportunity to interview him. He gave me insight into how he got into teaching and everything involved with coming to our school

Mr. Vin has been teaching in some way, shape, or form since he was 14. He started as a music teacher on the weekends for some time, working with a lot of children. He came across Jemicy when a colleague of his recommended it to him, and he fortunately took the job.

Mr. Vin always loved science and had wanted to work with it since he was a kid; he even considered, and still wants to, become a forensic scientist. Mr. Vin says it’s been fairly easy getting into the swing of things here at Jemicy, and he really likes all of the faculty, teachers, and students.

He told me that anybody could learn to be a teacher if they are really committed to it, and that it takes organizational skills and a wealth of knowledge.

“The best teachers are the ones who truly love their jobs”, he told me.

When talking about the school, I asked about his opinion on AI being used in schools, since the school has a firm policy on it. He said this:

“I think AI has a place when teachers are using it creatively and when it helps student learning.”

AI is a tool anyone can use, and it has its benefits in some cases, but it’s not for everyone and doesn’t always need to be used.

Overall, Mr. Vin is a great person and a fantastic teacher; learning about his educational journey was fascinating and amazing to experience.
