Breaking news! On January 15th, the Jemicy school located in Owings Mills adopted ten therapy dogs, two for each wing of the school to help students deal with anxiety and frustration. In the past three months, the anxiety level of students has lowered by a substantial amount. Here’s what some students have said about their furry friends. A young junior, Thomas Collins stated “They’re very friendly and I’ve become very confident talking in front of people.”

One freshman, Andrew Salmores said: “The dogs are wonderful to have around! Whenever I’m stressed out, the dog helps calm me down. In fact, even the Principal, Ben Shifrin, agrees it was a good idea. Let’s hear what he has to say. “The dogs will walk around the wings of the school until a student needs help so the teacher will call the dog into the room to help the student.” Science has proven that petting a dog releases a hormone called oxytocin which lowers your stress and reduces your heart rate and lowers your blood pressure. There you have it folks, Therapy dogs in the Jemicy Highschool.
