Women’s lacrosse, like men’s baseball, is another new sport kicking off this spring. According to Dean of Students and Athletic Director Theon Francis, this year was the year to get the team going due to having two coaches in Ms. Mackenzie Bailey and Ms. Kalli Parrish on the LMS campus. Francis said that the number of students interested along with the opportunity to play sports due to lessening COVID-19 restrictions, were two deciding factors for the women to start this spring.
Coach Bailey believes one main goal for the team this season is growth. “This season is the first ever for a Jemicy women’s lacrosse team. Our goal is to develop the program so we can continue to have a women’s lacrosse team for years to come!”
Some Moose players to look out for this season are: Sara Mendelson ‘24 (midfield), Riley Kryger ‘25 (midfield), Jordan Baylin ‘22 (attack), and Brooke Lockwood ‘23 (midfield).
While the inaugural season is still taking shape, Jemicy will test its skills against other schools.
“We only have two games scheduled so far, but we are hoping to get a few more on the schedule for May. Our two games are against Chapelgate and The Key School.”
Chapelgate Christian is currently 1-6 and Key School is 3-3 on the season thus far.

Goalie, Olivia Green ‘22 said that the current worldwide pandemic will be the challenge of the season.
“The obvious challenge has been coping with COVID-related regulations, but luckily we’ve been able to overcome any issues that have come our way thus far.”
Green feeds off the support of her teammates.
“As a goalie, my role is one that is vital though it is through the support and capability of my teammates that I’m able to effectively serve as the obstruction to the other team’s attempts at scoring.”
