New Teachers 2020-2021

Covid has taken its toll on school systems around the country and Jemicy is no exception. There are some positives to the school year though. For example, new teachers have joined the Jemicy workforce. And with a majority of them being English teachers, the English Department is stronger than ever. Other departments like history and art have new teachers as well. This is the largest number of teachers to join Jemicy in a long time. Let’s introduce some of them.

Brett Youngerman is no stranger to the Jemicy campus. Having been a counselor at Camp Jemicy for two years, Youngerman enjoys the campus and is happy to be teaching 11th and 12th grade English and creative writing. Youngerman grew up in New Jersey and has taught all over the country. From Maryland to Colorado, Youngerman has had a wide variety of experiences teaching in different environments. Youngerman attended Goucher College, where he received an undergraduate degree in teaching, and Towson University, where he got his Master’s in Secondary English Education. With this only being his 6th year of teaching, Brett Youngerman has had quite the teaching experience.

Fast forward to present day where Erickson teaches 10th grade English and Written Expression (Skills). Erickson attended Providence College, where she has a double major in English and Secondary Education.

Sandra Sanders is new to the Jemicy community as well, but isn’t new to teaching. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Sanders is from Long Island, New York, a place know for having tough, hard working people. Sanders teaches Written Expression (Skills) and Language Literacy. She attended Stony Brook University, with a major in English Literature. Before teaching at Jemicy, Sanders taught at another school for 11 years. She says that the reason she wanted to work at Jemicy was that she was looking for a change and wanted to meet new people.
