Senior Haley Palmer is known at Jemicy for participating on the cross country team, but Palmer is a nationally heralded field hockey player who was even selected to the AAU Team USA last year as a Junior Olympian.

Palmer credits her all around game on the field and hockey IQ for her success.
“I would say my biggest strengths on the field would be my stick work, my vision on the field and the ability to get my head up to see the open passes, and finally my shots on goal and how strong and accurate they are,” said Palmer.
Her Moose cross country coach, Stephanie Jesse, praised her athletic abilities.
“Haley is an extraordinary athlete. Her mental focus, perseverance, and ability to push herself beyond her own physical limits is what makes her so much fun to coach. She is extremely competitive, and has an incredible drive to improve her own performance.”
But Palmer is not only a force on the field, but excels as a student athlete as well.
“Haley is inquisitive, tenacious, and fearlessly willing to experiment in class,” wrote Palmer art teacher Pauline Savage via email.
Palmer’s dedication, preparation, and training also reveals itself in the classroom.
“Haley is a determined master of self-advocacy and is extremely thorough in ensuring that her work reflects the best of her ability. She has shown tremendous growth in the few short months that I have known her,” commented Haley’s history teacher Barclay Groseclose by email. “Haley’s willingness and desire to plan ahead in order to complete and review drafts well ahead of the due date shows a strong self-motivation that is encouraging and rewarding to work with.”
“Haley is an energetic and conscientious individual who advocates for herself and is receptive to feedback in order to enhance her writing,” Haley’s English teacher Emily Knight wrote.
Palmer committed to Towson University as a sophomore, and accepted a full scholarship to play for the Tiger’s Division I field hockey program in November 2020.

“I originally had my eyes set on another college, but learned I like being close to home and the scholarship I earned was pretty hard to turn down,” Palmer wrote via Snapchat.
Congratulations Haley and good luck in the fall!
