Holiday Tech

The holiday season is right around the corner and many companies, such as Apple and Microsoft, have released some big tech pieces just in time for gifting. Here are some cool technology recommendations that you can buy as a gift for your friends and family.

iPhone 12: Apple released four phones at its last event. The iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, and Pro Max are entirely redesigned. They have a new rectangular design that makes the iPhone more durable than ever before. The iPhone 12 has a completely redesigned camera system. Apple has always made great cameras on their phones, but the iPhone 12 takes it a step further. The three array camera system on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max now have a more advanced and updated version of night mode and a new feature that Apple calls Pro Raw. This year’s iPhone also includes a feature called MagSafe. MagSafe is an arrangement of magnets on the iPhone’s back that helps put your iPhone in the perfect position when charging wirelessly. Apple also made a new wireless charging pad that snaps on the back of the iPhone. The iPhone 12 starts at $799 & the 12 Mini starts at $699. The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999 and the Pro Max at $1,099.

Apple Watch Series 6: The Apple Watch Series 6 packs a bunch of new features and colors into the same watch design as the Series 5. The Apple Watch now features a blood oxygen sensor which can detect COVID antibodies, as well as an ECG scanner. It is perfect for the COVID season. The Apple Watch now offers a new retina display that features a brighter always-on display which makes it better for quickly glimpsing at the time or a notification. Also, the Apple Watch now tracks your sleep using accelerometers that monitors your movement in bed and can determine how you sleep and will suggest better sleep positions. New bands are also available for the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series 6 starts at $399 as well as the cheaper Apple Watch SE at $239

Amazon Alexa: Back in September, Amazon announced new versions of its Alexa smart home speaker.  Alexa is completely redesigned from the ground up with a new sphere-like design. Alexa has a new speaker system that gives it a clearer sound with deep bass. Alexa also includes some new features. Intercom is a feature that allows you to send a voice message throughout your house. Alexa also has a new guard feature that uses a microphone to detect sound when you are not home. Alexa can automatically contact the police if there is a break-in occurring as well. Amazon also announced a new Ring drone that can fly around your house by itself and monitor your house while you are gone.

Xbox Series X and Series S: In September, Microsoft announced the Xbox Series X and Series S. These are completely redesigned gaming consoles that are meant for the best performance possible. Both Xboxes have new processors and chips that can handle better graphics and higher speeds. The Xbox Series X starts at $499, and the Series S starts at $299. They are both available for pre-order and will be available to purchase just in time for Christmas.

Warning: Xbox Series X and S are known to have ventilating issues that causes the console to overheat easily

Playstation 5: Sony released the new Playstation just in time for the holidays. The PS5 is all redesigned internally as well as externally, with a new shape, size, and color. The PS5 has a new graphics card that is capable of 120 and 120hz output on 4k displays. The PS5 also supports 8k output. The new PlayStation has 3D audio for compatible headphones that outputs sound in every direction. It sounds like you are in a movie theater. In my opinion you get more for your money when you buy the PS5.

Every tech item I mentioned will be available by December. It will be interesting to see what people will get their kids for Hanukkah and Christmas. The iPhone 12 models and Apple Watch Series 6 are available now for purchase.

Stay tuned for more tech reviews to come.
